Jill Hickey has been giving nutrition guidance to children and adults for 17 years, and now is supporting patients at RMA of Connecticut with broad experience and a unique perspective.

“I grew up in a health conscious family,” Jill says. “My dad is a former athlete, coach and gym teacher who valued eating for health and performance. My mom is a preschool teacher and always had home cooked, balanced meals for us. I think this upbringing, as well as my personal experiences, (discovering the impact of good nutrition as an athlete, and in facing personal and family health challenges), is what sparked my interest in nutrition.”

Jill is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who has provided medical nutrition therapy in a variety of settings: while a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician in the hospital setting, she provided nutrition support to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University of Chicago Medical Center; the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Burn Unit at Bridgeport Hospital and has assessed and counseled patients, young and old, with various medical conditions. Outside of the clinical setting she continued to share her knowledge with others. She has led nutrition and cooking classes for participants of all ages in South Florida communities through a program called Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth, has developed and led workshops for teen moms to be, led classes with child/parent participants to promote healthy family lifestyle changes for overweight children and adolescents and created and led in-school and after school nutrition programs designed to spark interest in nutrition and wellness in kids from an early age in a fun environment.

Jill is enjoying combining her past experience- in both clinical and community nutrition to help patients in both the fertility and non-fertility PCOS programs. She loves to connect with patients and to see them recognize the benefits of good nutrition, and build healthy lifestyle values for themselves and their future family.

Says Jill: “I feel blessed that RMA of Connecticut has given me an opportunity to share my love of nutrition, my compassion for others, my desire to make a positive impact on a patient’s journey to fertility, and my desire to continue to learn and provide best possible patient care."
