Joshua Hurwitz, MD, Fertility Specialist in CT – New York Magazine "Best Doctor"

awards | RMACT Doctors

top-fertility-specialist-ct-hurwitzIt’s hard to sum up Dr. Joshua Hurwitz in a few words. It’s hard to sum him up in a few paragraphs. As a top fertility specialist, recognized by his peers (see below) and his patients and his personal working colleagues, his enthusiasm is boundless.

One word? That’s even harder.

Still, I found one that fits well. Boundless.

OK, with only one word, boundless would be it.

Top Fertility Specialist in CT Recognized For Boundless Enthusiasm

Boundless energy. Without caffeine. His smile is infectious and broad. He smiles with his eyes, it’s genuine, he’s available. He’s present. He’s so very rarely distracted and he is always interested. He treats each patient as if they are the only patient that he is seeing for the day. He holds nothing back.

Boundless enthusiasm for helping people build their familes– ask any of his patients! Boundless concern, making phone calls to his patients, day and night, weekends and holidays, because he wants to know that his patients, YOU, are ok.

His honesty is boundless as well. He tells the truth, even when the truth is uncomfortable. You can count on him for that. You can count on him to do his very best, including telling you what you would rather not hear. His honesty means that you can trust him when he tells you what you are so hoping to hear.

He is boundless in being a scholar of reproductive medicine; his understanding of infertility and fertility treatment. He reads, he studies, he pursues information, he teaches, he is open to learning more.

He is also boundless in his praise and appreciation for the other board certified reproductive endocrinologists at RMACT. The team approach, including daily conversations regarding patient care is part of how RMACT is special and unique.

Dr. Joshua Hurwitz earns the title “Best Doctor” on so many levels.

Boundless is just one word that fits well.

Congratulations to Dr. Hurwitz for this well-earned award. ~ Lisa Rosenthal

Fertility specialist Joshua M. Dr. Hurwitz has excelled in pregnancy success rates and infertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and SelectCCS (Comprehensive Chromosome Screening).

“To me, being a parent is one of the most precious roles in my life, and that is why I feel privileged to help patients on their journey to parenthood,” says Dr. Hurwitz, a fertility specialist at RMACT and Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. “Our team at RMACT and I believe successful fertility treatment balances advanced medical treatments with holistic services such as stress management, nutrition counseling, yoga and acupuncture.”

New York publishes its annual “Best Doctors” list based on peer reviews, as compiled by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd, a New York based research company. Doctors are asked to select leading physicians in their respective medical fields based on the quality of their medical care, results and bedside manner.

Dr. Hurwitz sees patients at the Danbury, Norwalk, Stamford and Trumbull offices of RMACT. As a partner, Dr. Hurwitz is a driving force behind the patient experience at RMACT, which includes standout pregnancy results and RMACT’s Integrated Fertility and Wellness Program (IFW). This unique program includes services such as individual and peer to peer counseling, support groups, acupuncture and nutrition counseling. Based on the latest annual clinic summary report from the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (www.SART.com), RMACT continues to be a national leader in the fertility field with a live birth rate significantly higher for women under 35 with thawed, non-donor cycles; RMACT has a live birth rate of 66% (84/127) as compared to 44% nationally.[1]

Dr. Hurwitz is a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.  Outside of the office, Dr. Hurwitz enjoys yoga, stand-up paddle boarding and long-distance bicycle riding and is an active member of many charitable and school organizations. He has two children with his wife, Ali Hurwitz.

Dr. Hurwitz received his undergraduate degree in Biology & Society from Cornell University, and his medical degree from the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.  Dr. Hurwitz completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, also in Philadelphia. During residency training, Dr. Hurwitz was named Best Laparoscopic Surgeon, and has received many teaching awards. After residency, he completed a three-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

[1] RMACT’s live birth rate is 66% (84/127) as compared to 44% nationally, as reported to SART. A patient comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for ART may vary from clinic to clinic.
