Secondary Infertility Treatment

Success in Growing Your Family

After one or more pregnancies, you thought conceiving again would be easy. Unfortunately, this journey has become frustrating and confusing, and you aren’t sure where to turn. In fact, you may be questioning whether you should be trying again at all.

Remember, if you want to continue growing your family, you have options. In fact, you have very good options and even better, excellent chances to be successful.

With the help of modern science and medicine, effective therapies and highly skilled medical professionals, Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) can be your partner in overcoming the hurdles of secondary infertility.

How Do I Get Started with Treatments for Secondary Infertility?

RMACT can help you take the first steps toward growing your family. To ensure you are appropriately prepared, first check with your insurance carrier to determine if you need a referral from your OB-GYN or primary care practitioner to see a RMACT physician. Then contact us here to schedule a new patient appointment at one of our four conveniently located fertility treatment centers.

If you have already had preliminary tests elsewhere, please bring your results to your first appointment.

  • Your physician will likely recommend a physical exam and a transvaginal ultrasound
  • Blood work will be drawn to test for an array of things, including hormone levels, FSH, AMH, CBC, Hemogobin A1c levels, Vitamin D, Varicella for chicken pox immunity and rubella
  • You will also meet your Patient Care Team, which consists of your assigned nurse, patient navigator and financial services representative

What are the Treatments for Secondary Infertility?

One of the main causes of secondary infertility is also one of the most natural and inevitable: bodies and eggs age and change over time. Like primary infertility, secondary infertility can also result from a variety of hormonal, environmental, immunological and physiological causes.

Once the diagnostic testing is completed, your physician will work with you to determine a specific recommended fertility treatment plan, which may include:

From Simple to Advanced Fertility Care

  • Nutrition Program: The fertility nutrition program offers an individual consultation that will provide education and strategies on how to optimize your health for conception and pregnancy.
-Specialized Nutritional Care for those patients with specific health and dietary needs.
  • Further Testing: If your physician feels your medical history warrants it you may be asked to have additional testing performed.
  • Semen Analysis: All male patients will be required to have a semen analysis to determine motility and sperm count.
  •  IUI: Intrauterine insemination is a form of artificial insemination that involves placing a concentrated semen sample in your uterine cavity to improve chances of conception.
  • IVF: During in vitro fertilization, eggs are removed from your body and combined with sperm in the laboratory to create embryos, which are then transferred back into your uterus.
  • Surgery: Sometimes surgery is necessary to optimize your chances of conception. Same-day, office-based surgery is another treatment option available at RMACT.
  • Egg Donation: If your testing results determine that you will be unable to conceive again with your own eggs, it will be recommended that you explore our egg donation program. RMACT has an active egg donation program as well as relationships with several reputable egg donor agencies to assist you through the process.
  •  Gestational Carriers/Surrogates: For those patients who are unable to successfully carry their baby to term, RMACT’s Third Party Program team members will help you find a surrogate and guide you through the multi-step process.

Every step of the way, you are in control of your treatment. The decisions are yours to make. Your Patient Care Team will work with you to ensure you are educated regarding every option and ensure that you feel comfortable with your progress and fertility treatment protocols.

Is Financing for Secondary Infertility Treatment Available?

Each of our patients is paired with a RMACT financial representative who uses his or her expansive knowledge of medical insurance plans, benefit qualifications for fertility coverage and healthcare financing programs to help make fertility treatment as affordable as possible. Their goal is to find solutions while alleviating some of the stress associated with the finances of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). We also offer Opportunity Plans that include treatment, procedures, and medications at a fixed rate. Your financial services representative will also discuss with you any additional outside financing options.
