Maybe you're somewhere in between, and have questions about the process of how it will all work. Possibly you're feeling overwhelmed about where to start. Maybe you're eager and ready to get started. These are all normal feelings when considering the exciting idea of parenthood.

Dr. Spencer Richlin (Lead Physician at Single Moms To Be at RMACT), Lisa Schuman, LCSW, (Director of Psychological Services at RMACT), and Jane Mattes, LCSW, (Founder of Single Mothers By Choice) each bring a unique perspective that will give you both a broad overview and the details necessary to help you make decisions that you are comfortable with as you explore becoming a single mom.

Spencer Richlin, MD
Partner, Lead Physician of Single Moms To Be at RMACT
Dr. Spencer Richlin is Surgical Director and a Partner in reproductive endocrinology at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT). In addition, he is Division Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology at Norwalk Hospital. Dr. Richlin is board-certified in both Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Lisa Schuman, LCSW
Director of Psychological Services, RMACT
Lisa Schuman, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), is RMACT’s Director of Mental Health Services. With almost twenty years of experience in the field of reproductive medicine, Lisa provides patients with support, guidance and education. She is also part of the Third Party Reproduction Team, for which she screens and counsels egg donors and gestational carriers. Lisa is responsible for staff education concerning patients’ emotional needs, stressors, and ways to offer additional support.
Jane Mattes, LCSW
Founder of Single Mothers By Choice
Jane Mattes, L.C.S.W., a NYC psychotherapist and single mother by choice, founded Single Mothers by Choice (SMC)in 1981 after having her son, Eric, in 1980. In addition to writing the book, Single Mothers by Choice, she has overseen the growth of SMC from the original chapter in NYC to chapters all around the US, and in Canada, Europe and beyond. Over thirty thousand single women, predominantly in their thirties and forties, have joined SMC during that time. Jane has met and consulted with thousands of women who were going through the processes of thinking, trying and mothering, and is a spokesperson for SMC in the media.
About Lisa Rosenthal
Lisa has over thirty years of experience in the fertility field. After her personal infertility journey, she felt dissatisfied with the lack of comprehensive services available to support her. She was determined to help others undergoing fertility treatment. Lisa has been with RMACT for eleven years and serves as Patient Advocate and the Strategic Content Lead.
Lisa is the teacher and founder of Fertile Yoga, a program designed to support men and women on their quest for their families through gentle movement and meditation.
Lisa’s true passion is supporting patients getting into treatment, being able to stay in treatment and staying whole and complete throughout the process. Lisa is also a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, which is helpful in her work with fertility patients.
Her experience also includes working with RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and The American Fertility Association (now Path2Parenthood), where she was Educational Coordinator, Conference Director and Assistant Executive Director.
