NIAW Friends & Family Advocacy Evening at RMACT
At RMACT, we are all about family building- it's what we do, we help those who need it. And because of that, we actively investigate legislative efforts that support or suppress all people's ability to build their families.
On April 27, RMACT will be hosting its second annual "NIAW Family & Friends Advocacy Night". Held during National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW, founded by Resolve-The National Infertility Association), RMACT's mission is to raise awareness about infertility and turn that into action.
On May 18, during Advocacy Day in Washington DC, we will deliver the letters we collect, along with the NIAW message- "Listen Up"- letting our state legislators what we think about fertility treatment and access to care for all people. Last year, we delivered almost 1,000 letters to our state senators and representatives. This year, we would like to triple that.
We have a voice. And for those of us comfortable enough to reach out to friends and family for help with this campaign, know that you are also doing it for those who need fertility treatment who are not comfortable speaking out. Infertility is a medical condition and often feels like a private situation, even a shameful one. While one in eight couples will need fertility treatment, many of those couples will not be sharing this heartache with their friends and families- let's speak for them.
We Have a Voice. And We Have a Message to Deliver
"Listen Up" is the theme this year. This evening's effort is dedicated to those who aren't comfortable being open about infertility and who may never be but still deserve the ability to build their family. We are their voice.
Join us on April 27at RMACT's main office in Norwalk (761 Main Avenue, Suite 200, Norwalk, 06851) from 6:00-8:00 PM. Bring signed letters, sign letters, participate in sign making, have dinner & meet others dedicated to family building. Let's show our legislators that we would like them to "Listen Up" about infertility and our dreams of becoming parents.
