Fertility Empathy 101 – Courtesy of Dr. Brené Brown & YouTube
Empathy rather than sympathy. Or another way to put it, how do you want your friends, family, work colleagues, strangers on the street to speak to you about infertility?
This video is not specifically on fertility, infertility, miscarriage, IVF cycles that haven't worked or any of the other losses that we feel when we are trying to conceive and it's not happening. The video is about empathy, plain and simple.
Fertility Empathy or Just Plain Empathy
How to offer someone something when they are in pain. What to offer someone when they are in pain.
Whether it is pain that you have experienced. Or not.
I believe that we can be empathetic whether we have personally experienced a similar painful experience or whether we have not.
Thank you Brené Brown, for a lovely, loving and compassionate way of describing empathy. With no shame. If you have offered something that turned out to not be helpful in the past, here's a new way to do things.
