Celebrating My Birthday With Fertile Gifts For You
Happy birthday to me.
And to you.
Today is my birthday, but sometime this year, you will have one too. Ha, you can’t get that past me.
Fertility treatment knocked all the joy out of my birthday for years and I have taken to celebrating my birthday all year, every single day to make up for that. (One year my goal was to go somewhere new each and every day. That meant a new place physically or emotionally or spiritually. That was a fun year, think I’m going to do that one again this coming year. Want to join me?)
To celebrate my birthday, I have some gifts for you. Take them out when you are ready and unwrap at your leisure. Savor each one, I want to share my gifts with you.
Gift #1 – May you take a four hour vacation this weekend to do anything your heart desires. Be as selfish (new definition- taking care of self) as you like. Pick a thing or nothing to do. Maybe it’s a swing in the hammock and a romance novel and a tall glass of lemonade. Maybe it’s staying in bed until eleven AM. Even if you have to cancel plans or chores, do it. Or especially if you have to cancel plans or chores, do it. Four hours of vacation just for you. (Thank you Amy Sue from Sol Luna Yoga in Avalon for that gift to me.)
Gift #2 – Enjoy some pleasure that is specific to summer. A swim, a walk, gazing at the evening sky. Early morning look at the garden or park with the dew still visible and glistening. Appreciating being able to walk outside with no sweater, jacket, gloves and hat. Simply feeling the temperature of the air on your skin. A water park? Kayak ride? Summer fun, just for you. (Mine was birding this morning with one of my best, most beloved friends, up and out at 5:15 am- check out the sunrise.)
Gift #3 – See a summer movie. There are a few out that are funny, silly, stupid and even studly. See one. Get some popcorn. Get some candy and something to drink. Sit back, put your feet up and laugh. Or cry. Or swoon. (OK, saw Ant Man last night. Funny, silly, stupid AND studly. Not my typical movie but it was playing at the right time and place. Tell me what you see this weekend!)
May these birthday gifts make you feel special. May they remind you how special you are, that only you can be you and that is more than enough. May these gifts remind you that your light shines through all of the murkiness that infertility can cause. May you enjoy my birthday with me wherever you are and whatever you are doing. May you know that I am sharing my birthday wishes with you.
And that I know just what to wish for. May your wishes and mine all come true.
