Three RMACT Fertility Doctors Receive 2011 Patients’ Choice Award:
Drs. Spencer Richlin, Cynthia Murdock, Joshua Hurwitz Earn Recognition from Patients
Of the nation’s 720,000 physicians, only five percent were recognized in 2011 by their patients as earning “Patients’ Choice Award,” and Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) is proud to have three of these physicians on staff. Drs. Spencer Richlin, Cynthia Murdock and Joshua Hurwitz – each a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist who works with fertility patients – have been rated by patients as giving excellent quality of care and service. The award appears as part of the doctors’ profiles on web sites such as Patients’ Choice, Vitals.com and Google, as well as health insurance web sites.
“I take patient feedback very seriously, which is why an award determined by my patients is so important,” says Dr. Richlin, a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and Surgical Director at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMA of CT), as well as Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Norwalk Hospital. Dr. Richlin has been published numerous times; most recently, he coauthored the "Infertility" chapter in the text Avoiding Common Errors in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins). Dr. Richlin’s main interests are reproductive surgery, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and a cutting edge technology called Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS), which safely evaluates biopsied embryos prior to transfer.
“My colleagues and I are humbled by this recognition,” says Dr. Hurwitz, who has five “Patients’ Choice Awards” and is a Fertility Specialist with RMACT. “Working with our patients and helping them to start a family is incredibly rewarding, and this type of award means so much because it comes from the patients.”
In addition to his private practice at RMACT, Dr. Hurwitz is the Division Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility services in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences of Danbury Hospital and is board certified in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. His research interests also include premature ovarian failure, oocyte cryopreservation, reproductive surgeries, embryo donation, and bioethics. He has published numerous abstracts, articles and book chapters on reproductive aging, reproductive hormones, IVF, ultrasound, and bioethics.
“Working with fertility patients is most rewarding when we see their joy in successfully getting pregnant,” says Dr. Murdock, a Fertility Specialist with RMACT who is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. “And for patients to give us this type of recognition is very special.”
Dr. Murdock is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. An experienced researcher, Dr. Murdock has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed studies and presented at several of the most prestigious conferences in the field of reproductive medicine. The focus of much of her research has been on estrogen receptors, hypothalamic neuron function, and precocious puberty.
