Infertility Pep Talk - Waiting, Waiting and More Waiting
Infertility Pep Talk - Not the Version You Expect
Infertility pep talk.
Not the version from high school or college which has too much to do about cheering and not enough about other things.
It’s a long weekend, a three day weekend. Here on the east coast, it’s not promising to be sunshine and light.
Think rain and overcast skies.
A lot of you are waiting. And bored and sick and tired of waiting. Waiting for test results. Waiting to take a pregnancy test. Waiting for a cycle to begin.
Just plain waiting.
And I heard the impatience in your voices last night at Fertile Yoga. When I suggested that a rainy weekend could be a cozy weekend at home, it was not received well.
You all are tired of waiting. Tired of being tamped down and careful. Tired of being conscious of food, sleep, exercise. Tired of being more guarded about your choices of activity or vacation plans than you’ve ever had to be before.
Tired of infertility.
Tired of Infertility. Tired of Waiting. Ideas Follow.
Here’s the pep talk. Ready?
Watch a movie that is so funny that you are actually crying. It won’t hurt your chances of becoming pregnant, it won’t disturb an embryo that is maybe making itself at home in your uterus, it won’t change your calorie intake.
I have an even better, slightly warped idea. Watch a movie that you could not watch with a two-year-old child in the house or sitting in your lap. Animal House? Bridesmaid? My Cousin Vinny?
Memorial Day is great too, because it’s not a Hallmark type weekend. Not Mother’s or Father’s Day, thank goodness. Nothing to avoid at the Mall or on TV or on the Internet.
You can feel free to go out and know that you will not be accosted by sentimental images of mothers, fathers, babies and families. At least no more than normal.
Back to cozy weekends at home. Watch the movies that make you laugh so hard you cry. Make some delicious new dish or order in. Sleep late and then take a nap. Take a walk between the sky opening up or dress comfortably and walk in the rain.
You’re tired of waiting. You’re tired of things being on hold, of feeling like your life is on hold and there’s nothing else that you can or need to do.
We know it. I know it.
I also know that you are doing everything that you need to be. Starting with breathing.
Start Memorial Day Weekend with Fertile Yoga
Hey, if you’re in the Danbury area, start your Memorial Day weekend with me and a group of fabulous men and women tonight at Fertile Yoga at Yogaspace. We’d love to have you!
When we’re waiting it’s hard to treat time as if it’s precious. We just want it to move along a little or a lot faster. If it’s ok with you, see if you can enjoy it one moment at a time.
It’s your life, one moment at a time and you won’t have this time back.
Me, I’m on for a really great weekend. And it will include some hysterically funny movie. And popcorn. And a nap.
Fertile Yoga tonight, from 6-7:15 p.m., would love to have you.
