March 2013: Upcoming Fertility Events

Here's a preview of the fertility events coming in March, held by Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut. Most are free of charge and open to the public. Come join us!


Pre-Conception Wellness Seminar: Tools for Fertility Success: This one class session is conducted by RMA Nutritionist Carolyn Gundell, MS and RMA Nurse Ellie Downs, RN. Carolyn & Ellie will facilitate an interactive discussion on the benefits of preconception planning with a fertile lifestyle. We will share tips on The Fertility DietTM, health & wellness that will improve conception success and also help to support a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Couples or partners are welcome. Please RSVP to Justine 203-750-7484 Space is limited. Class is offered monthly,(March 16 in Danbury). This class is FREE & open to the public.RMACT Nutritionist Carolyn Gundell




“I am Pregnant, Now What?” Seminar: This seminar will discuss the key components of a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy including appropriate maternal weight gain, sleep, physical activity, essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, environmental toxins and risks, and food safety. Common medical concerns such as morning sickness, constipation, anemia, hypertension, and gestational diabetes will be addressed. This class is conducted by RMA clinical staff.  Couples/Partners are welcome. Insurance Companies will be billed. RSVP is required. This is offered monthly, (March 12 in Danbury and March 26 in Norwalk). This class is for RMA Patients only.


Yoga Classes

Fertile Yoga: Yoga can help couples relax, and relaxation can help one make more satisfying decisions, communicate more clearly with their doctor, and sustain treatment with a more positive perspective. What you need: comfortable loose fitting clothing, a yoga mat, and a bottle of water. This class is FREE & Open to the Public. Brookfield: Yogaspace; Norwalk: RMACT; Redding: Blackbird Yoga (Class fee)



Pre-Natal Yoga: This pre-natal yoga class was created especially for women who have been through fertility treatment. Class is designed around the special physical and emotional needs former fertility patients may have. Any woman, at any stage of pregnancy, is welcome to attend class (with doctor’s approval). Class will be a combination of relaxation, movement and meditation. Come join us on the next step of your fertility journey. This class is Open to the Public. $10 per class or $40 for 4, do not need to be consecutive classes.

Yoga Classes will be led by Lisa Rosenthal RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). Lisa is a former fertility patient, who also worked for over 17 years as a national patient advocate for couples going through infertility. Lisa trained with Lotus Garden for her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, through Yoga Alliance.


Ladies Night


Ladies Night In: This peer support group is free of charge. It is facilitated by Lisa Rosenthal & Carrie Van Steen. Carrie and Lisa are both former fertility patients and offer the support and suggestions many of our patients are looking for and really need. About Lisa Rosenthal

Lisa has over thirty years of experience in the fertility field. After her personal infertility journey, she felt dissatisfied with the lack of comprehensive services available to support her. She was determined to help others undergoing fertility treatment. Lisa has been with RMACT for eleven years and serves as Patient Advocate and the Strategic Content Lead.

Lisa is the teacher and founder of Fertile Yoga, a program designed to support men and women on their quest for their families through gentle movement and meditation.

Lisa’s true passion is supporting patients getting into treatment, being able to stay in treatment and staying whole and complete throughout the process. Lisa is also a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, which is helpful in her work with fertility patients.

Her experience also includes working with RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and The American Fertility Association (now Path2Parenthood), where she was Educational Coordinator, Conference Director and Assistant Executive Director.
