Starting the Process

After you have made the decision to see one of our specialists getting started is very easy. You may contact either our Norwalk or Danbury office for a new patient appointment Monday through Friday from 8am until 4pm. We always recommend you check with your insurance carrier ahead of time in case you need to obtain a referral from your OB-Gyn or Primary Care Practioner. Any past records you may have are also helpful. The following records if available should be brought to your initial appointment:

  • Estradiol, FSH, Progesterone blood levels
  • Hysterosalpinogram or Sonohysterogram films/pictures or radiology report
  • Semen Analysis results
  • All records pertaining to a previous IVF or IUI cycle including infectious disease testing, oocyte stimulation and embryology lab records are extremely important for our physicians to review.

Your first visit at RMACT will last about 2 - 2 ½ hours and we encourage all patients to bring their partners with them. You will begin your meeting with your physician who will review your records and ask you a lot of questions about your medical and reproductive history as well as your family building goals. At that time, your physician will review with you the next steps to begin your treatment at RMA. Most new patient consultations include a physical exam and transvaginal ultrasound. You may even have blood work performed.

Next, you will be introduced to your Patient Care Team - your assigned Nurse, Patient Coordinator and Financial Services Representative. Your Nurse will get you started with your treatment options, educate you on the different medications, protocols and testing you may need to have performed, and make sure you understand what the next steps are. Our nurses work closely with the physicians to ensure that your individualized treatment plan is followed.

Your Patient Coordinator will be your main contact at RMACT. She will schedule all tests, appointments and surgery if needed. Your patient coordinator works with both your nurse and physician assuring your entire cycle goes as smoothly as possible.

Your Financial Services Representative will review your insurance benefits, the cost of treatment, any preauthorization that will be required for treatment and the payment options that may be available to you.
